Meet Dave Coyle

Inspired by a love of Canadian painted antiques, Dave began to build antique reproduction furniture out of his piles of wood as a hobby.

Dave Coyle was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and has lived in British Columbia, Canada for over 30 years. Dave is a carpenter and prior to opening his business 23 years ago on the Sunshine Coast, he was a very busy fence installer in Vancouver, BC. He would go to homes all over the Lower Mainland to install cedar fences and was always amazed at the condition and quality of the wood that was destined for the dump - so he would bring it home! Being Australian, where wood isn't as naturally plentiful, gives him an appreciation and he has never taken our natural abundance for granted.

Inspired by a love of Canadian painted antiques, Dave began to build antique reproduction furniture out of his piles of reclaimed wood as a hobby. Soon his friends were requesting furniture of a certain size or colour, and what began as an interest became a full time job.

Dave and his wife Jackie moved to British Columbia's beautiful Sunshine Coast in 2000 to build their home-based business, first out of their car port and then moving the business into an old barn for several years. Fortunately, their gamble proved successful.... 23 years later, Dave is in his own workshop building and wholesaling furniture and his retail outlet opened in Gibsons, May 31, 2003.

Dave and Jackie have three children and are actively involved in the community, volunteering within their children’s local sports and arts activities. They feel extremely lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, while earning a living doing something that they love.
